Next Friday (Aug. 5), families can cozy up outdoors and watch a free screening of The Jungle Book at the annual Prospera Cinema Under The Stars event.
Taking place at Willoughby Community Park, the movie night is free for the public to attend, and features many fundraising activities to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Langley (BBBS).
There will be popcorn, mascots, kids crafts and a raffle draw, with a grand prize of two WestJet tickets to anywhere they fly.
As one of the largest community fundraisers held during the year, BBBS is “thrilled to continue” their partnership with Prospera Credit Union, said BBBS Executive Director Mary Reeves.
“(This is) huge for us because that money goes directly to helping kids,” Reeves said.
She estimates the funds raised in this event will be enough to send several kids through their programs.
“That’s worth it for us,” she said. “Every child served is one less in need.”
Activities begin at 7 p.m. and the movie begins at dusk. Spaces fill up quickly, so make sure to arrive early to stake out a spot.
