The Bring-it-on Cabaret is a community building project initiated by an inter-generational group of fun loving people designed to provide a safe environment that encourages performers of all ages and backgrounds to take centre stage; a fun social venue for building community capital and an opportunity to encourage and build leadership skills in all ages
It’s back on stage Friday at Oak Bay United Church.
“We’ve got open stage for an hour which is something different every time. You never really know what to expect,” said Casey van Wensem who is among the organizers. Music, spoken word and comedy all make regular appearances at that time.
This month’s headliner is Clancy’s Front Porch, a local folk band that played the open stage previously
“They got a good response so now they’ve got a headliner spot,” van Wensem said.
The longtime cabaret style show started in the downstairs hall at Oak Bay United, but shifted to the larger main sanctuary upstairs.
The Bring-it-on Cabaret is April 20 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 at the door and includes light refreshment.
The cabaret happens most third Friday’s of the month. Learn more about getting on the open stage online at facebook.com/bringitoncabaret.
