Saanich firefighters’13th annual Rock & Roll for Little Souls event supports local families
Classic car enthusiasts are ready to rock and roll to Pearkes Recreation Centre this weekend for the Saanich Fire Fighters Charitable Foundation’s 13th annual Rock & Roll for Little Souls fundraiser.
Opening Friday (May 29) and continuing Saturday and Sunday, the annual car show features the largest invitational car show on Vancouver Island with 75 of the best hot rods, custom and classic cars, trucks, and motorbikes.
But beyond the classic cars and hot rods, there’s plenty more to see and do.
This year, Rock & Roll for Little Souls is presenting a few new activities.
Participants can experience the world-class VRX Racing Simulator and enter, by donation, the Fast Time Challenge contest, with prizes for the best track times of the weekend on the Watkins Glen International Road Course.
In addition, attendees can test their reaction times against an official drag strip “Christmas Tree” lights starting unit, and everyone can enjoy food and beverages by donation.
Admission to the popular local event is by donation, with all proceeds supporting the Charitable Foundation’s mandate of helping local families.
“Over the years, with the support of our community, we have raised more than $300,000 for pediatric care in Victoria,” explains Jared Barker, Director of the SFFCF.
“We anticipate close to 2,000 spectators at our three-day event this year, helping us to raise a further $15,000 for our cause.”
Through the funds raised at Rock & Roll for Little Souls, the Saanich fire fighters’ foundation supports local non-profits and charities, including Children’s Health Foundation of Vancouver Island and Victoria Hospitals Foundation.
