Clayton area magician on two US TV shows

‘Stunt magician’ Wes Barker is on America’s Got Talent Tuesday (today) and Penn & Teller: Fool Us this summer

Wes Barker’s latest adventure on TV put him in front of some high-profile judges on America’s Got Talent.

The Clayton Heights-based “stunt magician” will appear on the popular variety show/contest on Tuesday evening (July 21).

Barker twice flew to New York for show tapings a few months ago.

Those judging his second-round act are Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum, Howard Stern and Mel B, along with guest judge Michael Bublé.

“It was awesome,” Barker told the Surrey Now about his time on the “AGT” stage.

Barker said he hit 20 millions views on his YouTube account over the past 12 months, prompting producers of America’s Got Talent to contact him for an appearance on the TV show.

He isn’t sure exactly how much air time he’ll get.

“Everyone gets the same amount of stage time, but how much [TV air time] you get depends, so I’m not sure about that,” he said. “They might show my interview, my back story, or maybe I get 30 seconds, I don’t know. I’ll find out by watching on Tuesday night like everyone else.”

Barker also recently recorded his act for Penn & Teller: Fool Us, a magic contest that airs Mondays on the CW network.

“Mine is probably a few weeks always,” Barker said. “I totally crushed this show — should be awesome.”
