Canadian soulful songstress Coco Love Alcorn returns to the Comox Valley on May 13 during her Wonderland Spring Tour.
In addition to her evening concert at the Little Red Church, she will be running a vocal workshop in the afternoon, presented by Choral Valley.
Many local music lovers know that Alcorn’s performances are not to be missed. Her poignant relatable lyrics and melodies reach into your heart, inspiring joy and awe in equal measure. Her grooves settle right into your bones.
Both events take place at the Little Red Church, 2182 Comox Ave. The workshop will run 3 to 5 p.m. and the concert doors open at 7 p.m. for a 7:30 start. Tickets for the concert are $20 in advance, available in person at Benjamin Moore House of Colour on Fifth Street in Courtenay and Blue Heron Books on Comox Avenue, or visit cococomox.brownpapertickets.com. Depending on availability, tickets may be available at the door for $25.
Come sing with Coco! Choirs all over North America are singing her music. During the workshop, Alcorn will teach songs, lead some improvisation exercises and demonstrate how fun songwriting can be.
Alcorn is an engaging and experienced leader. Singers will make some joyful noise and soulful sounds as they playfully jump into the middle of the moment together. The cost is $30. To register, visit Choral Valley online or send an e-mail to choralvalley@gmail.com.
Coco Love Alcorn has always followed her spirit, but never so literally as with her latest album, Wonderland. The songs spring from her personal journey, but true to her nature, Alcorn offers a universal interpretation that invites all listeners to take part and sing along.
