Coffee and a concert

New daytime music series begins at Surrey Arts Centre, featuring pianist Sarah Hagen.

Acclaimed pianist Sarah Hagen hosts and performs in Classical Coffee Concerts, a new, intimate and casual concert series presented by the Surrey Arts Centre.

On five Thursdays between beginning next week (Sept. 27), a 75 minute concert beginning at 10:30 a.m. in the 129-seat Studio Theatre is preceded by an opportunity to meet and mingle over coffee and pastries in the lobby from 9:30 a.m.

Hagen’s talent and enthusiastic approach to life and music allow her to bring an amazing array of artist friends to perform with her. The series kicks off with guest performer, flutist Krzysztof Kaczka, and continues with singer Ken Lavigne on Oct. 18, a solo concert by Hagen on Nov. 22, violinist (and concert master of L.A. Philharmonic) Martin Chalifour on Feb. 7, and cellist Ariel Barnes on March 14. Audience members will have opportunity to meet the musicians after the performance.

To celebrate the launch of the concert series, Surrey Arts Centre is offering free admission to the first concert on Sept. 27. Free tickets must still be reserved in advance by contacting the box office at 604-501-5566.

Tickets for the subsequent concerts are $22.50 each, with a $3 per ticket discount when tickets are purchased to three or more concerts.
