Congratulations to the winners of our door prize draw at the annual Christmas Craft Fair held at the end of November.
Tina Giesbrecht won two tickets to the April Verch Band concert on Jan. 24. Faith Larson, Mary Dewit, Bertha Michell and Jayden Reynolds all won CD’s by performers who will be featured later this season at arts council events.
On Jan. 15 there will be a community coffee house at the Grassy Plains Community Hall starting at 7 p.m.
Performers will include Pretty Girl Hill, Tweedsmuir Fiddlers, Stuart McCallum, Junior Fiddlers, and the Connelly Family.
Come listen to a wide variety of musical entertainment. All proceeds are applied to the purchase of a new furnace for the Grassy Plains Hall.
Then on Jan. 19 – 22, the Lakes District Secondary School senior drama and dance department present ‘Romeo and Harriet’ a musical comedy and tragedy. Starring Emily King as Harriet and Brett Fairly as Romeo.
Tickets may be purchased at the door only.
Plan to see this hilarious, family oriented show and to support our local, aspiring performers and another top quality production.
A family coffee house will be held at the Decker Lake Hall on Jan. 21, at 7 p.m. Admission is $5 per person and coffee and snacks will be provided. For more information, contact Jill Jarvis at 250-698-7351.
The fourth performance of the arts council season takes place Jan. 24, at 7:30 p.m. at the First Mennonite Church. Doors open at 6:45 p.m.
The April Verch Band performs traditional east coast fiddle music with stand up base, guitar, mandolin and banjo accompaniment.
April is an award winning fiddler and stepdancer from the Ottawa Valley, who performed at the opening ceremony of the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.
Tickets are still available for this performance.
Prices are $17 for adults, $12 for seniors, students and youth. Children five and under are free when accompanied by an adult and tickets are available at Process 4 circle arts Gallery.
Limited tickets will be available at the door so buy early to avoid disappointment.
