Stand-up comic Leland Klassen performs at a fundraising comedy show on Friday, Jan. 10 in Abbotsford.

The show, which includes a silent auction, begins at 7 p.m. at the MEI Middle School auditorium (4081 Clearbrook Rd.) and raises funds for a missions trip that a group of high school students are doing during their spring break.

The students will be teaching English and doing a building project in Thailand.

Klassen moved from Saskatchewan to Abbotsford 12 years ago to take a job with NOWTV (now known as Joytv) and has lived in the community ever since with his wife and two boys.

One of his sons is among the kids going on the missions trip.

Klassen has performed at the Just for Laughs Festival in Montreal three times and performed at the Vancouver, Calgary, Saskatoon, and Toronto comedy festivals.

He was recently booked for the Halifax Comedy Festival on CBC, and is currently the host of “Popcorn TV,” which airs on CTS in Canada.

Tickets for his show are $10 and are available at the door. All proceeds are going to the missions trip.
