Comics strip for laughs

Canadian comedians riff on fictional male stripper troupe in improv show at Tidemark Saturday, March 28

It’s not the kind of thing you’re likely to find in the funny pages, but some of Canada’s top improvisational comedians appears tomorrow at the Tidemark Theatrer in the Comic Strippers, an improv parody of a male stripper troupe.

Saturday’s show begins at 7:30 p.m.

These guys try to be sexy … it just comes out funny. Constantly grooving and gyrating between scenes, they banter with the crowd and perform their hilarious twist on improv sketches.

They sing, they “dance”. These guys are oiled up and ready to make you laugh at them. Fresh off sold out shows in Vegas, Australia and now Canada! Just in time for stagette season and, gentleman, not to worry — some of the performers have what are know as ‘Comedy Bodies’ and will make you look good by comparison.

Semi-undressed and completely unscripted, The Comic Strippers take off their shirts and take on your suggestions to create a whole new genre of comedy.

There is no extreme nudity, just extreme hilarity. The show is for all genders but not all ages — 19+ only, please.

The comedy strippers are: Roman Danylo, stand-up comedian and veteran of CTV’s Comedy Inc.; Ken Lawson, star of the Canadian sitcom Health Nutz and alumnus of The Vancouver TheatreSports League and The Second City; Chris Casillan, improv comedy vet with Vancouver Theatre Sports and a Canadian Comedy Award winner; Pearce Visser, 25-year veteran with the Vancouver TheatreSports League, an actor in film & TV, and performer in Cirque du Soleil’s talent pool; and Michael Teigen, longtime performer with The Vancouver TheareSports League and actor in many films, TV shows and commercials.

Tickets are $35 each, or $30 each for groups of six or more (plus applicable service charges). Tix are available online at tickets.tidemarktheatre.com or call 250-287-7465.
