A show highlighting 60 years of Motown music comes to Abbotsford on Friday, Oct. 4.
“Motown Magic: Sixty Years of Music Hits” plays at 8 p.m. at the Abbotsford Arts Centre, 2329 Crescent Way.
The concert, under the creative direction of executive producer Tony James, blends the music of some of the most iconic artists who helped create a soundtrack that would transform America.
These artists include Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, The Jackson 5, The Temptations, Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell, Smokey Robinson, and Diana Ross and the Supremes, among many others.
The production features over 20 classic hits such as My Girl, Ain’t No Mountain High Enough, Last Dance, Want You Back, Please Mr. Postman, and Respect.
It stars Canadian singer/actress Leina Deboer and special guest star Owen Lee, award-winning international recording artist.
Also featured are Fraser Valley dancers Karina Evangeline, Danica Domay and Teagan Gibson with backup vocalist Rebecca Laurenti and the six-piece Motown band.
Abbotsford is one of three B.C. locations for the premiere of Motown Magic. (The show also plays Nanaimo on Oct. 2 and Victoria on Oct. 3.) The production then moves on to Hawaii in early 2020.
Tickets are $40 for adults, $30 for seniors, $20 for students and $15 for kids 12 and under. They are available online at eventbrite.ca.
