The early-bird entry deadline is Sept. 12 for the third annual Fraser Valley FlipOut pinball tournament taking place Sept. 26 to 28 in Abbotsford.
The tournament is hosted at Castle Fun Park (36165 North Parallel Rd.) and features former NBA player and pinball star Todd MacCulloch as its ambassador.
The event, founded and produced by Nitro Amusements’ president Tommy Floyd, is an open pinball tournament with IFPA (International Flipper Pinball Association) ranking points.
The tournament has achieved PAPA (Professional and Amateur Pinball Association) circuit event status, and offers more than $25,000 in cash and prizes and a grand prize of a new pinball machine.
Floyd said that in the three years the event has been running, it has turned into Canada’s largest open pinball tournament.
MacCulloch said he is looking forward to playing in the tournament for the first time.
“Pinball is an amazing game that engages players on so many levels. The sights, the sounds, the artwork and the true mechanical action have been entertaining players for generations,” he said.
The early-bird entry fee is $35 until Sept. 12, after which the cost is $50. Registration can be done online until Sept. 24 at fvflipout.com or in person at the venue on Sept. 26 and 27.
Qualifying takes place on Sept. 26 and 27 from 10 a.m. to noon, with the semifinals and finals being held Sept. 28.
