Cool off Sunday at the Caetani Centre

Locals and visitors can cool down in the gardens at the Caetani Cultural Centre when the Women of Song concert takes place Sunday afternoon.

Part of the Caetani music series, the by donation concert features music by Vernon singer-songwriters-instrumentalists Betty Johnson, Carolyn Anele, Betty Anne Northup, and Anjuli Otter, with an opening performance by local drum and singing troupe The Earth Sisters.

“We would like everyone to know that we will have a sprinkler and a hose available to cool down with on site, so don’t let the hot weather put you off,” said the centre’s manager Susan Brandoli.

The concert starts at 2 p.m. and continues to 4 p.m. It takes place under the large shady trees in the gardens of the Caetani house at 3401 Pleasant Valley Rd. Refreshments by Anna’s Sweets and Treats will also be available.

The centre is also holding a fundraiser to help  raise a stage on the Caetani grounds. Proceeds from the outdoor concert series will go towards the building of a stage area at the bottom of the natural amphitheater that is carved out in the front landscape of the Caetani house.

With a $20 donation to the centre, a paving stone will be engraved with the donor’s name or a loved one’s name and will become a part of the new stage. More information is available at caetaniculturalcentre.org.
