“The Never Ending Joys of Nuclear,” by David Lane

Courtenay artist David Lane among exhibitors at Island Originals Art Show in Comox

Outdoor show at Marina Park runs Saturday and Sunday

This year David Lane will be presenting work from his new collection at the Island Originals Fine Art Show and Sale, Aug. 10-11 at Marina Park in Comox.

His new paintings go under the name “The Environmental Collection.”

David Lane is a Canadian artist who has been living for more than 30 years in Courtenay. His studio is set in a beautiful wood. Yet, Lane’s concern for the future of the world is real. So his new paintings can send a chill up the spine and bring us conscience about our future in this beautiful planet.

Names like The Neverending Joys of Nuclear and The End will surely help the audience remember that we are on the verge of an environmental catastrophe which needs our decisions to stop it.

As for style, Lane’s work is full of color and variation. His large formats are deliciously full of brushstrokes where the colours vibrate. A room is full of colours and textures wherever his paintings are.

Lane is also a Vancouver Island author that has published the book “White Cadillac”, featuring short stories.

The Island Originals Art Show runs at Comox Marina Park Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 10-11.

A total of 58 artists will be displaying and selling their pieces at the show.
