Cowichan Valley author Diane Gallagher shares her experiences in Sicily in Mancia di Sanu and is launching her book Saturday, Oct. 1, at 2 p.m. at the Duncan Showroom.
She and her husband, Nick, bought a 100-year-old stone house in a mountain village in Sicily in 2012 and began a laugh-out-loud journey of discovery into Sicilian culture and cuisine.
Her book includes such info as what is really in a “Crazy Mice Salad”, alternate uses for a bidet; the joy of a spleen and trachea sandwich, and why Sicily is so gluten-free friendly.
She also has taken a number of recipes from both traditional and personal kitchens in Sicily and made them easy for Canadians to try.
Gallagher is a retired teacher-librarian who has taken up a new career as an author. She has published numerous articles and poetry, including two poems in the first edition of Out of the Warmland, and her first novel, Greenwich List, was released on Amazon on her 50th birthday.
