If you’ve never been to an art show before, now is the time. The Creston Art Club is holding its annual art show and sale at Rotacrest Hall, next door to the Creston Valley Fall Fair, on Friday and Saturday.
The club has a huge selection of mediums, including watercolours, oils, pastels, pencil, acrylics, fabric art, multimedia, cards and prints. There is something for everyone! There will be tickets available to purchase to wina painting by Audrey Orosz and an opportunity to vote for the people’s choice award. Light refreshments will be available.
This year, the club will be having a silent auction with all proceeds going to Isobel “Izzy” Nixon and her family. She is the seven-year-old granddaughter of one of the club members, and she was diagnosed with brain cancer in December 2014. After nine months of treatment, she is in remission, but the family still has many expenses, as they must travel to Calgary for MRIs for the next few years. There will be a variety of pieces to choose from to support this cause, including paintings by Izzy’s grandmother, Carol Huscroft. There will also be cards made by Izzy’s great-grandmother, Chris Herchmer.
Come out and support to Nixon family, and enjoy an opportunity to surround yourself with creativity, bountiful colours and local artwork!
The art club’s show runs 2-9 p.m. Sept. 11 and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sept. 12, with artists in attendance Friday from 7-9.
