Looking ahead to the next 100 Mile House Performing Arts Society production, a family friendly pantomime version of Cinderella, director Donalda Speers says “think the Three Stooges, Monty Python with family content, and a lot of audience participation.”
With a cast of close to 20, Cinderella promises to be a “raucous, fun time” in time for the Christmas season in December. (The three “ugly” step sisters, for instance, will be played by men.)
“It’s a fun comedy with some singing and general mayhem. It’s very new, very different, and it should be very fun and entertaining.”
Auditions are Sept. 9-10 at St. Timothy’s Anglican Church at 106 Blackstock Rd. (corner of Blackstock and Horse Lake roads) in 100 Mile House from 6:30 to 9 p.m.
Roles are open to boys and girls aged 10 and over and adults.

Also in September, the Performing Arts Society is sponsoring a Missoula Children’s Theatre original adaptation of Sleeping Beauty, which is open to youth from across the region for no fee.
There are parts for 50 to 60 kindergarten to Grade 12 students, with auditions on Sept. 14, rehearsals in the afternoon Sept. 15-18, and two shows on Sept. 19 at Martin Exeter Hall.
The original adaptation of the classic fairy tale will see Sleeping Beauty, after 500 years of sleep, finding herself in a “Rock ‘n Roll Fable for the ages.”
