Oregon Shadow Theatre’s Thumbelina takes centre stage on Sunday at the Chilliwack Cultural Centre.
This story about a miniature girl born from a flower follows Thumbelina’s journey as she finds her way in the world of nature, creating a tale with a Woodstock generation twist.
The show features the colourful shadow puppets of Deb Chase and storytelling by Mick Doherty.
Thumbelina meets a variety of characters on her trip, including a frog named Buford who has a thing about Elvis and Mrs. Strawberry Fields, the mouse who happens to be best friends with the mole Mr. Darkness. Thumbelina also stumbles upon a talent show, with a six-legged host who does an imitation of Roy Orbison.
The main theatre will be transformed into Thumbelina’s magical world, which consists of a projection screen in the shape of a setting moon and a cast of mice, frogs, birds and bugs.
