CVAC looking for help for public art

The City of Courtenay says the project will provide multiple benefits.

The Comox Valley Community Arts Council is requesting submissions from the creative residents of the Comox Valley to beautify Courtenay with one of our successful public art programs.

With the support of the City of Courtenay and BC Hydro, you could paint one of several chosen hydro boxes throughout the Courtenay area with your art in the months of May, June and/or July.

The City of Courtenay says the project will provide multiple benefits.

“We are really grateful to BC Hydro for making this project possible,” notes Randy Wiwchar, the City’s director of community services. “For starters, it’s going to support our artistic community and beautify our downtown. On top of that, it should also help protect these boxes from graffiti and vandalism, as taggers generally don’t damage artwork.”

Full details about how to submit your designs can be found on our website at www.comoxvalleyarts.com. Selections are made through a juried process and must be approved by both the City of Courtenay and BC Hydro prior to acceptance. Submissions must be received by April 15.

Selected applicants will be notified by May 15.
