For 45 years, the Comox Valley Youth Music Centre has provided intensive training for gifted youth musicians from around the world.

Part of this experience includes public performances.

With the 2012 CYMC camp running until July 29 at Mark Isfeld Secondary, the schedule has been set and the public is invited.

On July 26 at 7:30 p.m. at the Elks Club, the jazz faculty will perform. Tickets are $20 and available at Laughing Oyster Bookstore, Blue Heron Books, or at the door.

The jazz program’s faculty, who will work intently with the students during the one-week camp,  is for the first time comprised of professional jazz musicians from Vancouver Island.

On July 28, CYMC jazz students will perform at the Filberg Park main stage at 7 p.m. Admission to this performance is by donation.

“We are very excited by another year of amazing musical experiences with our CYMC students and faculty.  The end-of-camp performance is so gratifying for everyone involved, we are happy to share it with Comox Valley residents and visitors who appreciate jazz,” says Kate Ramsey, CYMC executive director.
