The Lee family has returned from an unforgettable trip to the Scotdance Canada Championship Series this summer in gorgeous Antigonish, Nova Scotia.

Packed in the luggage on the return trip were four medals, one trophy, souvenirs from 10 days of travel and a lifetime full of memories.

Makenna, 10, competed over two days and placed sixth in Fling, fifth in Lilt, third in Flora and second in Seann Truibhas (in a category with 24 girls).

A special Trophy Fling on her second day saw her take first place.

Samara, 4, danced with her usual enthusiasm and energy and although she did not place, she along with all the Primary competitors, received some wonderful prizes for participating.

There was a ton of waving, searching the crowd for family and even a thumbs up.

The icing on the cake of the family’s entire vacation was a trip to Peggy’s Cove.

Mom, Rhonda, said they went with the expectation that they could take amazing pictures with the girls in front of the lighthouse. They opened the door of the car and heard bagpipes.

While Makenna put on her kilt for photos, dad and grandparents went to seek out the piper, who was more than pleased to play a Fling. Visitors at Peggy’s Cove got an extra treat that day as the piper (who was busking for college) had a young dancer accompany her for the first time.

Grandma and mom were a little teary eyed and the piper was phoning her friends. It was really a special moment and the family is incredibly proud of Makenna.        — Submitted by
