Davis: Marvel comics gives us galaxy guardians

Guardians of the Galaxy features a brash adventurer named Peter Quill who obtains a mysterious and powerful orb.

Guardians of the Galaxy may not be one of the most popular comics in the Marvel Universe (neither was Iron Man when the first movie came out and look what that did), but it could be another strong property in the Marvel Cineverse.

Guardians of the Galaxy

It features a brash adventurer named Peter Quill (otherwise known to himself as Star-Lord) who finds himself the object of a bounty hunt after he steals a mysterious and powerful orb. To help evade a powerful villain intent on destroying the universe, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits—Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer.

The impressive cast includes a star-turning performance by Chris Pratt (Parks and Recreation) as well as varying physical and vocal performances by the likes of Zoë Saldana, David Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Benicio Del Toro, John C. Reilly, Djimon Hounsou, Glenn Close, Vin Diesel, Michael Rooker, Lee Pace and Josh Brolin.
