Guardians of the Galaxy may not be one of the most popular comics in the Marvel Universe (neither was Iron Man when the first movie came out and look what that did), but it could be another strong property in the Marvel Cineverse.
It features a brash adventurer named Peter Quill (otherwise known to himself as Star-Lord) who finds himself the object of a bounty hunt after he steals a mysterious and powerful orb. To help evade a powerful villain intent on destroying the universe, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits—Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer.
The impressive cast includes a star-turning performance by Chris Pratt (Parks and Recreation) as well as varying physical and vocal performances by the likes of Zoë Saldana, David Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Benicio Del Toro, John C. Reilly, Djimon Hounsou, Glenn Close, Vin Diesel, Michael Rooker, Lee Pace and Josh Brolin.
And So It Goes opens at the Paramount Theatre this weekend for those of you looking for this romantic comedy directed by Rob Reiner who re-teams with his An American President star Michael Douglas and Diane Keaton.
Opening at the Grand 10 Cinemas is Wish I Was Here, a comedy-drama written and directed by and starring Zach Braff (Scrubs, Garden State). It is the story of a struggling actor, father and husband who decides to try to home school his children when he loses focus in his life.
At the Encore in West Kelowna, Chef is a must-see for foodies. Music fans should see Begin Again, a romantic comedy with Mark Ruffalo and Keira Knightly.
