David Fincher’s Gone Girl starring Ben Affleck and the horror flick Annabelle helped make the Oct. 10-12 weekend a record-breaker for the month and the trend was likely to continue over the Thanksgiving Day weekend.
The Judge is produced by and stars Robert Downey Jr. as a hotshot lawyer who must return to his hometown and reunite with his estranged father (and town judge) when his mother passes away. His efforts to leave town after the funeral are thwarted when his father is suspected of murder and must defend him against the charges.
I had the pleasure of watching it a few weeks back. While the critics are not being overly friendly to The Judge, I think it is one of those movies that the audience will enjoy much more than the critics.
I felt it was an enjoyable drama with some very funny and touching moments and a stellar cast, which includes Vera Farmiga, Vincent D’Onofrio, Billy Bob Thornton, Dax Shepard and Leighton Meester. In particular, Robert Duvall is powerful as the stubborn father.
Universal Pictures is giving one of its iconic monsters another big-screen treatment.
Dracula Untold is an origin story that deviates from Bram Stoker’s novel and uses the historical character of Vlad the Impaler, who inspired Stoker’s Dracula, as a tragic hero.
Luke Evans (Fast & Furious 6, Immortals) portrays Transylvanian Prince Vlad III Tepes who enters into an evil agreement with a sorcerer to give him the strength of 100 men in order to save the lives of his family and the kingdom he loves.
However, the price of this agreement is the insatiable thirst for human blood, becoming the legendary vampire, Dracula.
Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day is a title that does not need much more explanation, being the story of an 11-year-old boy who seems to be having the most horrible day of his life.
However, he gets little sympathy from his family as he learns that his brother, sister, mom and dad are all having their own troubles.
This family comedy from Walt Disney Pictures starring Steve Carell, Jennifer Garner, Megan Mullally and Jennifer Coolige is perfect viewing for families.
