Come out and celebrate Chilliwack’s art community with the Chilliwack Cultural Centre’s sixth anniversary and Cultural Collaboration on Oct. 1.
Take a walk through the art studios to see beautiful pieces being created right before your eyes, stroll over to the Rotary Hall Studio Theatre and take in spectacular local talent as they perform everything from dance to theatre, and be sure to check out the Artist Village where artists and artisans will have their gorgeous work displayed and will be there to explain how they achieve their craft.
The kid-favourite annual treasure hunt is back. Grab a passport for the younger ones to get stamped as they explore the centre and receive a prize when it is full.
Chilliwack School of Performing Arts and the Chilliwack Music Academy will also have information booths letting you know what programs they have available for kids. Information about the the cultural society’s after-school art classes for kids will also be available — from Magic Mud to Stopmotion Animation, there is something to let any child’s imagination run wild.
There will also be hot dogs for sale, complimentary cake and refreshments available inside.
Other partners on site that day include The Chilliwack Players Guild, Chilliwack Academy of Music, Chilliwack Visual Artists Association, Chilliwack School of Performing Arts, and many more organizations that will be showcasing their specialties at the at the centre.
The legendary band Chilliwack will be performing hits such as ‘Fly At Night’, ‘My Girl (Gone, Gone, Gone)’, and ‘Lonesome Mary’ to a sold-out crowd that night as well.
Cultural Collaboration Day runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1 at the Chilliwack Cultural Centre.
