Homelessness is a big issue in the Cowichan Valley.
The Duncan United Church Social Justice Committee aims to give people a window into the world of the homeless that they might not otherwise have with the presentation next week of the documentary Lowdown Tracks.
“It’s revealing. It’s inspiring. It’s about the people living rough and the music they create to keep themselves going,” said promotion for the film.
Here’s a taste: Woody, one of the men featured in the film, says of homelessness: “If you force a man to stay outside and freeze to death, and then blame the cold, it’s like making a man walk the plank and blaming the water for him drowning.”
The film screening is at the Duncan United Church on Thursday, Nov. 16 at 7 p.m. Admission is free or by donation.
