Don’t let the name fool you

The F-Holes dig up new album and tour west

Winnipeg band The F-Holes are done with being holed up in the studio, and  are about to spread their wings west.

The F-Holes are much more than their tongue-in-cheek name implies, and they are ready to prove it with the release of their second album, Angel In The Corner.

The band is currently on tour with a string of live shows, which brings them to the North Okanagan next week.

Since forming in 2004, The F-Holes have been sharing their unique blend of country, Dixieland and Manitoba roots music with audiences all across Canada.

A featured act at last year’s Salmon Arm Roots and Blues Festival, they’ve played shows with Juno-nominated artists such as Gord Downie, Elliot Brood, and K’NAAN and have received acclaim from critics and audiences alike for their unmistakable, vintage-inspired sound and passionate live performances.

The F-Holes released their self-titled debut album in March 2009. The album was recorded live off the floor on two-inch tape to fully capture the band’s live sonic intricacies. The album earned rave reviews and showcased the band’s attention to musicianship, clever arrangements and honest songwriting.

With the release of their sophomore album on Aug. 27, The F-Holes continue their musical journey in the same direction. Songs such as Even Stevens and Up For a While showcase the band’s unmistakable cheeky, Dixieland sound and demonstrates their musical depth by making the listener yearn to hear the songs live.

The F-Holes will be spending the rest of 2011 on the road doing what they do best –– winning over fans with their live shows.

The F-Holes perform at Lorenzo’s Café, located east of Enderby on Mabel Lake Road, Sept. 9. Call 250-838-6700 for information/reservations.
