Hey jazz fans, don’t miss out on this one.
The Ground Zero Acoustic Lounge (GZAL) Jazz Series continues Wednesday (March 6) with live performance No. 3, featuring The Greg Bush Combo, with a fantastic evening of original jazz compositions by Greg Bush, professor of Jazz Studies at Vancouver Island University.
Affectionately referred to as ‘Vancouver Island Suite’, Bush’s originals will showcase the depth of his sophisticated skills as composer, arranger, conductor and ‘jazz educator extraordinaire’ and topping things off, an engaging stage presence that will draw you into a special evening of jazz at GZAL.
This stellar five-person lineup of musicians is led on trumpet by Bush, who, as a performer, composer and arranger, has collaborated with some of the finest musicians in the international jazz scene. As a music educator, he has contributed
to the regional jazz scene in many important ways and launched countless young musicians to a career in music.
Greg will be surrounded by top-flight musicianship with drummer Alicia Murray, well-known local tenor sax man Dan Craven, bassist John Hyde and on keyboard, Chad Geekie. This combo features some our finest musicians on Vancouver Island.
The GZAL Jazz Series showcases student musicians at performances with part proceeds donated to School District 69 music programs.
Advance tickets are $20 and available online at www.gzalounge.com. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with performance at 7 p.m. Concession sale proceeds in support of the Ovarian Cancer Society.
