Bozzini’s will be presenting one sweet double bill of blues that will be hard to beat for its last show of the season on May 13.
Danny Brooks comes all the way from Texas and may be familiar to Chilliwack residents as he headlined the Back to the Gospel Blues Festival for three years at Heritage Park. Martin Harley is from Wales, UK, and they both made their debuts at Bozzini’s in 2016.
Harley is a supremely talented acoustic roots and blues guitarist, singer and songwriter with a burgeoning global reputation.
Recorded in Nashville Tennessee over four days, his seventh album (and second with bassist Daniel Kimbro) is rooted in blues and Americana. Their ‘less is more’ approach delivers accomplished slide guitar playing and memorable, timeless songwriting.
The album features 14-time Grammy winner Jerry Douglas (Ray Charles, Eric Clapton, Dolly Parton), Derek Mixon (Chris Stapleton, Sam Lewis) and Micah Hulsher (Alabama Shakes).
Renowned for his prowess as a slide guitarist, Harley is almost unique in the UK in his playing lap slide. During year-round worldwide touring he’s absorbed a plethora of diverse influences, honing his craft into the classic songwriting style he possesses today.
Danny Brooks has long been referred to as ‘The Real Deal’ and after years of honing his writing and performing skills in Canada, picking up nominations and awards along the way, Brooks is at home in the Texas music scene and traveling throughout the US.
Brooks will be onstage with his wife, Lil Miss Debi, at Bozzini’s.
Mixing southern soul, Americana, blues and gospel, he is recognized as a prolific writer and dynamic live performer, and is constantly on the road.
Brooks and Lil Miss Debi released their second ‘Texas’ studio recording This World Is Not Your Friend in 2015. The upcoming CD Get Your Joy On will be much like the previous CD with a ‘stripped down’ approach. Brooks’ music features the duo he has with Lil Miss Debi who sings and plays cajon/percussion while he plays assorted guitars/slide/cigar-box/stomp-board and harp-rack.
‘Texassippi Soul Man’ Danny Brooks &Lil Miss Debi have been touring constantly, promoting and building their reputation throughout North America.
As a duo, they make a good racket on assorted guitars/stomp-board/harp-rack/cajon/percussion and singing with all their might.
