Celebrate the chic and charming items of the past at the second annual Vintage-Retro Inspired Faire at the Church of Ascension on April 12.
The event, created by Mirella Trozzo of Biscotti Di Notte, will feature an eclectic mix of vintage clothing, jewelry, furniture, homemade cookies and candy, vinyl records, music, and more. There will also be door prizes.
Last year around 1,000 people turned up at the event and Trozzo is hoping for a similar turn out this year.
“We’re encouraging people to come dressed up if they choose,” she said. “We had a couple people do that last year and it was really fun.”
She said people can come dressed in whichever past era they choose.
Admission is by donation and the proceeds will benefit the church’s youth group.
There will be 25 vendors selling their wares at the event, including Lexuss Vintage from Nanaimo, selling mid-century household wares and Stellar Jay on the Beach from Qualicum Beach, with a mix of refinished and antique items. Backyard Diva will be there selling up-cycled gardening items and heirloom seeds and Northsouth Bakery and Confectionary in Lantzville will have bread and vintage-style candy.
Violet Vintage Treasure Rentals will be on-hand renting garden arches, trunks and old windows for weddings and other events, and Trozzo will have her usual goodies including her pizzelle, the oldest type of cookie in the world, originating in the eighth century.
The Coombs Old Time Fiddlers will perform at the event around midday.
The Vintage-Retro Inspired Faire takes place from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at 887 Wembley Road.
