Duo Beija-Flor will waft a variety of Latin melodies through Chemainus on Feb. 5.

Chemainus Classical Concerts presents a show entitled “Costas” with the Duo Beija-Flor made up of Charles Hobson, guitar, and Marie-Noëlle Choquette, flute.

This show is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 5, starting at 2 p.m. at St Michael’s Church, in Chemainus.

This duo’s music is all about the lively music from the Latin countries with coasts (“costas”) that border the Atlantic Ocean.

There will be dance music; everyone knows about the passionate Argentinean tango and the lively rhythms of Brazilian sambas.

But, there’s so much more. You’ll be transported to Portugal for the haunting sounds of fado and then to Spain for some Jewish sephardic melodies.

There’s a lot there for talented musicians to mine, and this pair is eager to share it with you.

Tickets at the door are $20 for adults or $5 for anyone under 18. Get them in advance from several outlets. Check chemainusclassicalconcerts.ca for the one nearest you.
