Dwyer duo to perform at Acoustic Cafe

A musical feast for jazz fans

Multi-juno award winning jazz performer Phil Dwyer and his up-and-coming musician son, Ben, will perform at the last Acoustic Cafe of the season in Qualicum Beach on Friday, May 6.

Phil has been well known in the international jazz scene for years, making a name for himself  on both saxophone and piano. He has won countless awards and has played with the likes of Aretha Franklin, Ian Tyson, Red Rodney and Ingrid Jensen. He is also a critically acclaimed composer, arranger and musical director.

Dwyer has been running the Phil Dwyer Academy of Music and Culinary Arts for six years and also hosts the Phil Dwyer Music Festival in Qualicum Beach every summer.

His son Ben is making a name for himself in jazz, so far as a prominent figure in Kwalikum Secondary School’s jazz program and among camps and festivals in B.C.

Hear the duo at the Acoustic Cafe May 6, located at the Rotary House at the corner of Beach and Fern Streets in Qualicum Beach. Tickets go on sale Saturday, April 30 at the Vintage Candy Shop in Qualicum Beach for $5, and homemade apple crumble and organic coffee will be available. Youth and children are free. 

Open stage performers — who have booked in advance — will begin at 7:30, followed by the Dwyer Duo at around 9 p.m.
