The ECHO Players’ mural was unveiled on the west wall of the Village Theatre to much fanfare on Saturday, July 1.
The project has been in the works for at least a year, with the artist who created it, David Goatley, showing a smaller version of the mural in September of last year.
Fundraising for the $60,000 to create and install the mural was successful, said ECHO Players president Ken McCready.
However, general fundraising continues, this time to replace the theatre’s AC unit, said McCready.
In addition to the ECHO Players performers, both past and present, who were in attendance for the mural’s unveiling, Qualicum Beach Mayor Teunis Westbroek spoke just before the cover was removed, while the town crier, Len Mustard, expressed a wish that the mural add to the town’s already beautiful backdrop.
