If Jimi Hendrix and Jane’s Addiction lived together in a party jam house, and they let Beck and Tom Waits live in a trailer in the driveway while Blind Melon or the Beastie Boys crashed on the couch, it might sound like Victoria-based band The Party on High Street.
Over the past three years, The Party on High Street has musically explored blues grooves, jazzy improvisations and mid-song funk downs to conjure up its own original psychedelic and refreshing “anything goes” music.
Whether acoustic or electric, The Party’s songs of peculiar life experiences, travel and the far-out are morphed to audibly paint a familiar, yet refreshing picture for their listeners every time they step on stage.
The Party on High Street plays the Cambie Saturday (Jan. 7), beginning at 10 p.m.
