Eclectica concert promises to inspire

Eclectica Community Band gives its annual musical Christmas gift to the community

Let festive music get you into the Christmas spirit at “Ring Christmas Bells,” a concert being presented by Eclectica Community Choir at Martin Exeter Hall on Dec. 11, starting at 2 p.m.

The midday concert features at least 55 Eclectica members singing, with selections from classical to contemporary music. A highlight will be an inspiring performance of Mozart’s “Gloria,” with director Jasmine Kreschuk and piano accompanist Donna Forward.

Also on the program is a humourous piece made famous by jazz artist Louis Armstrong, called “‘Zat you, Santa Claus?”

“It’s very unusual,” choir spokesperson Ann Swann says, adding the song will only be performed by the women.

The concert has something for the entire family, including children who will be enchanted with story telling by Caroline Sharpe. The young ones will be invited to sit up front on the floor around her as she tells her tale.

There will also be a variety of soloists and ensembles, and special to the concert will be a duet with Anthony Lau on the concert harmonica and violinist Curtis Wolfe.

The Adult Community Concert Band has been invited to start things off with a musical introduction.

While the concert is a treat for the general public, it’s also a fundraiser for the 100 Mile House Food Bank Society. Admission will be a non-perishable food item or cash or a cheque made out to the Food Bank.
