Elvis is in the building.
Back by popular demand, Steve Elliot’s tribute to the King is Saturday, Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. at the Mt. Arrowsmith Legion Branch 49 in Parksville.
Tickets are $20 in advance. For more information, call 250-248-5633.
The high-energized performance will take the audience through Elvis Presley’s rockabilly years straight through to the Las Vegas decade.
Elliot said he really enjoys impersonating “young Elvis” before it was all about the bling. He said back then, Presley’s performances were more “bare bones and raw.”
“It was just about the music and not a big production,” Elliot said.
But Elliot added that Presley’s music was amazing and always will be.
A special tribute to Presley’s gospel hits will be included in honour of the veterans.
“One of my favourite parts is in the mid-60s when he was in the army,” Elliot said.
Elliot started his career in 2004 after winning the top Canadian tribute title at Penticton’s annual Elvis Festival. In 2007, he performed as “young Elvis” to help mark the 50th anniversary of when Presley performed at the PNE in 1957.
Elliot said he started getting back into vinyl and something triggered his appreciation for Presley’s music.
