Japanese culture will be celebrated on Sunday, April 10 from noon to 3 p.m. at Thunderbird Memorial Square, off Veterans Way.
The City of Abbotsford Sister Cities Committee and The Reach Gallery Museum will be joining together for the event, called the Cherry Blossom Festival.
There will be numerous activities for all ages, along with a chance to donate to Japan Disaster Relief in light of the recent earthquake and tsunami.
The afternoon will kick off with a performance by Tetsu Taiko drum group, followed by a hands-on workshop.
There will also be a karate demonstration and a sushi making demo along with miso sampling and tea.
At The Reach tent you’ll find Sunday family arts with cherry blossom making and calligraphy activities.
Visit the Abbotsford Libraries tent for cherry blossom activities, Japanese folk and fairy tales, Manga cartoons and more.
At the end of the afternoon there will be a short processional from Thunderbird Memorial Square to The Reach for the Japanese Cherry Blossom tree planting ceremony.
