Get into the holiday mood with the Cowichan Camerata’s Christmas concert titled A String Noel on Friday, Dec. 9, in Duncan United Church at 7:30 p.m.
Music lovers can savour string arrangements of compositions and carols old and new and even sing along with some traditional favourites.
The list of songs includes arrangements of the baroque classics ‘Ave Verum’ (Mozart), ‘Arrival of the Queen of Sheba’ (Handel), ‘Abdelazer, or the Moor’s Revenge’ (Purcell); traditional carols ‘Still, Still, Still’ (Austrian), ‘Dance Noel’ (French), ‘Auld Lang Syne’ (Scottish), and ‘Cantique de Noel/O Holy Night’ (French). Contemporary compositions/arrangements include ‘Christmas Pipes’ by Brendan Graham, arranged by Sean O’Loughlin, ‘A Gleeful Christmas’ and a medley from the movie Polar Express.
You can mingle with the musicians while enjoying refreshments after the concert.
Admission is $15 for adults and $5 for students with a special price of $30 for a family. Buy tickets from orchestra members or at the door.
