SIDNEY — The Peninsula Singers are hitting the stage presenting Life Journeys We Take, a musical journey through life’s important milestones.

The spring benefit concert series is one of the Singers’ largest shows, along with their Christmas show in December.

Through the joys and roadblocks of life, the show can be summed up by The Beatles’ In My Life.

Artistic Director Glenda Korella has chosen songs celebrating love (teenage angst-filled version) and the view of two older companions in Fields of Gold.

With just over 60 singers, the men of the Peninsula Singers will show off their take on the late ‘50s pop hit by the Searchers, Love Potion Number 9. The women will also show their skills in asking mum for advice in Ma, He’s Makin’ Eyes at Me.

They will then sing together Carol King’s You’ve Got A Friend.

Another feature of the show is their Spotlight on Young Artists, which will showcase violinist Danielle Tsao and cellist Sophie van der Sloot. Both comprise Duo Forte. The two young and gifted musicians are joining them on stage from the Victoria Conservatory of Music and will perform a piece by George Frederic Handel and arranged by Norwegian violinist, John Halvorsen, titled Passacaglia. The concerts, all held at the Mary Winspear Centre in Sidney, are April 29, 30 and May 1. Tickets are $25 for adults and $13 for children, with all proceeds going to the Saanich Peninsula Hospital Foundation’s Music Therapy Program.
