Ensemble Laude makes a welcome return to Providence Farm

Women’s chorus, noted for medieval repertoire, plays the Providence Farm Chapel

Ensemble Laude presents The Open Window Sunday, April 23 at 2:30 pm at Providence Farm in Duncan.

Joining them are special guests Douglas Hensley on oud, Jon Miller percussion, and Fahlon Smith on viola.

Victoria’s premier women’s choir enjoys performing in the special acoustics of the Providence Chapel.

This time, they are presenting a bright, enlivening, musical burst of spring.

Music lovers can hear pieces such as ‘Gamelan’ by Murray Schafer, ‘From Behind the Caravan’ by Abbie Betinis, and a haunting ‘Ave Maria’ by Estonian Part Uusberg.

Contemporary Canadian composers Don MacDonald and Sarah Quartel are featured with ‘Voices of The Ancients’ and the group’s newest commission, ‘How Can I Keep from Singing?’

Now in its 19th year, Ensemble Laude is well-known for its a cappella performance and medieval repertoire.
