It’s a busy time for the Langley Ukulele Ensemble, but music director Paul Luongo said “it’s a good busy. It’s good to be busy when you’re a musician.”
Coming off a series of concerts and other performances – including two appearances on last week’s CTV early morning Christmas fundraising event at Guildford Town Centre – the 20-member senior A ensemble is gearing up for the last show of the year.
It’s the Themes of Christmas 2016 concert, and it’s being held in their backyard, at the Langley Evangelical Free Church (208th Street and 48th Avenue) on Sunday, Dec. 18, at 7:30 p.m.
This is the fourth year for the Themes of Christmas show, and this year – as Paul strives to put his younger stamp on the ensemble – he said he will be introducing an audio-visual component to the show that will help tell the true story of Christmas.
“It’s a unique and different element to the show,” he said. “But I promise, we’re not over the top with technology… we’re adding a very tasteful element of tech,” peppering in a lot of Christmas carols, and even inviting Paul’s father and mentor Peter Luongo back for a guest appearance and a chance to do his “infamous” 12 Days of Christmas.
“It’s a fun one. It’s a good laugh,” he said.
Tickets are $22.50, with seniors and kids 11 years or younger paying $17.50, at 604-340-8537. Money raised will help pay for the 2017 trip back to Hawaii and Nova Scotia.
