A fun-filled evening of fiddle music and step dancing is coming to Smithers as the Bulkley Valley Concert Association is pleased to present Everything Fitz April 25.
Everything Fitz is a family band featuring the high-energy fiddling and percussive step dancing of four of Canada’s finest young musicians. With roots in the Canadian old-time fiddle tradition and Ottawa Valley step dancing, their unique stage show combines a variety of musical styles- everything from traditional jigs and reels, bluegrass, jazz and swing standards, Celtic, gospel as well as novelty numbers and choreographed dance routines.
The four siblings, Julie, Kerry, Tom and Pat Fitzgerald are all champion fiddlers and provide intricate four-part fiddle harmonies as well as solo improvisations on fiddle and mandolin. Additional instrumentation includes parents Pam and Paddy providing accompaniment on piano and bass guitar.
An audience favourite is their award-winning group step dancing. Both Julie and Tom have garnered the title of Canadian Grand Master Fiddle Champion and all four siblings have won numerous awards for step dancing in Canadian contests.
These spirited young performers are noted for their polished performances and provide wholesome, captivating family entertainment for a diverse audience.
An added feature of the evening will be a performance by Smithers’ own Valley Youth Fiddlers who will open the evening. It’s a great chance to see our local renowned fiddle group!
The show is on April 25 at 7:30 p.m. at the Della Herman Theatre. Tickets are on sale at Mountain Eagle Books.
