Ladysmith artists are ready to bare all for the new exhibit, Human Form, Naked.
The exhibit opened on April 2 at the Ladysmith Waterfront Gallery.
“Naked in reality or in a philosophical nakedness,” said curator Bryan Henderson.
“We wanted to keep it open, but you want to maintain the theme.”
Henderson was very pleased with the submissions for the new show and noted the abundance has part to do with the life studies students who were at the gallery.
“It’s turned out very well.”
This is the second year the gallery has run this show and Henderson said the artists really warmed up to trying new things.
Many of the artists have been branching out said, Henderson, trying new forms and ideas for shows.
One example he pointed to is Sally Mann, who painted her pictures for the show using a small roller brush, a tool better suited to fill in corners of a room, not depicting the complex human form.
The exhibit will remain up until May 1.
Henderson is also preparing for the Island Celtic Festival April 29 to May 1.
The event will feature Celtic music at the gallery on the Friday night, followed by a huge concert and dinner at the Aggie on Saturday.
