Those who attended the Best of Banff Mountain Film Festival Monday and were floored by the antics of professional skiers in the film All.I.Can now have the chance to see the full-length feature in Vernon.
One of two films being shown by the North Okanagan Cycling Association (NOCS), All.I.Can will be screened along with mountain bike film, From the Inside Out, at the Vernon Towne Cinema Wednesday.
“This is a fundraiser for NOCS. We decided on a bike and ski movie to bring in more people and get people stoked about skiing. Mountain biking and skiing are both adrenalin sports; a majority of our members participate in both,” said NOCS president Cynthia Kapicki.
Produced by Sherpas Cinema, All.I.Can is the first ski-based film to ever win the Best Feature-length Mountain Film award at the Banff Mountain Film Festival.
A 10 minute “short cut” of the film was screened at the Best of Banff screening in Vernon, and on Wednesday, the full 90-minute film will be shown.
Directed by Dave Mossop and Eric Crossland, the film follows a group of professional skiers as they hit deep powder and some urban landscapes with stunning time-lapse sequences and creative visuals. The film also shows the effects of global warming.
Also screening is From The Inside Out, a mountain bike film written, directed and edited by The Coastal Crew and produced by Anthill Films, which features some of the world’s best freeriders as they hit the Sunshine Coast, Squamish and Prince George, and the mountains of Rossland, Fernie and Whistler, as well as the recently built Shuswap Trail near Salmon Arm.
All proceeds from the film screenings go back into the local mountain biking/hiking trails which NOCS maintains within Kalamalka, Ellison Park and Silver Star Provincial Parks, said Kapicki.
“NOCS has also applied for approvals from BC Parks and the appropriate ministries to establish new trails within the Vernon area.”
Doors to Wednesday’s screening at the Towne open at 6:30 p.m. From the Inside Out will be shown at 7 p.m., with All.I.Can at 8:15 p.m. (Prizes include a pair of skis from Skevik.) Tickets are $15, available at Olympia Cycle and Ski, Skyride Cycle, Sun Country Cycle, Attridge, Outdoor Exposure and at the door.
