Fine arts grads hold annual exhibition

KELOWNA — The 2011 bachelor of fine arts graduation exhibition at UBC Okanagan features works by 21 emerging visual artists from April 15 to 21.

Presented by the faculty of creative and critical studies, the exhibition is titled Prevalent Material, and showcases new and vibrant talent practicing in a range of media including painting, installation and photography.

“Prevalent Material offers a chance to scout new and upcoming artists, with an in-depth look into each artist’s work,” said creative studies faculty member Linda Falkingham. “All of the artwork for purchase is reasonably priced and will be on sale throughout the exhibition.”

An opening reception will be held April 16, from 6 to 11 p.m. in the fine arts and health building at UBCO (3333 University Way, Kelowna).

The reception is free and open to the public, and includes awards, musical entertainment by the Jazz Guys and Gypsy Fist, as well as refreshments.
