First Festival Lemieux brings music and meaning

Eleven bands descended on the Sound Heritage backyard on Saturday for the inaugural Festival Lemieux

Eleven bands descended on the Sound Heritage backyard on Saturday for the inaugural Festival Lemieux, a day-long concert held in memory of Nanaimo resident Anton Lemieux, who passed away from a fentanyl overdose.

“Honestly, it was fantastic. Better than we expected for sure,” organizer Max Frazer said.

“Overall, definitely I’d say it was a success and everybody had a really great time.”

Frazer said Lemieux’s birthday is this week and he hopes to hold the festival every year at this time.

“I would like it to be a thing that happens forever,” he said.
