Five winners crowned at 2018 Upcycling Design Challenge

Robert Maitland, Jelena Nicolato, Shirley Sawatsky, Justin Pilon, Wayne Wishart awarded for artwork

Of the dozens of entries submitted in this year’s Upcycling Design Challenge, five have been chosen as winners.

The annual contest — hosted by the Township of Langley and Langley Arts Council — challenges artists to create new works of art out of recycled goods made out of at least 75 per cent found or recovered material.

The 2018 winners are:

Best in Show ($300 prize) — Robert Maitland — “Fire & Water” dragon statue
