Folklore play at art gallery

Runaway Moon Theatre opens their new production at the SAGA Public Art Gallery

Runaway Moon Theatre’s newest creation, Dream, will premiere at SAGA Public Art Gallery. Humorous and poignant, Dream is a Mexican folk tale set in a miniature world.

Drawing on traditions and folklore from the Central American celebration of the Day of the Dead, Runaway Moon Theatre animates the story with live music, singing, puppets and actors. Juan is a poor, hard-working farmer tormented with a desire to selfishly eat a whole chicken by himself.

Just as he is about to enjoy his feast, Juan is visited by three powerful figures, each demanding a portion.

Aimed mainly at adults, but suitable for all, Dream plays at the art gallery at 8 p.m. Saturday, July 23 and 2 p.m. July 24. Tickets are $14 for adults, $5 for kids, families – $35, and are available at the door.
