Do you listen to the cogs that whir in your head, or the song that flutters in your chest?
Teetering on the brink of absolute failure, love-sick Bobert discovers his heart to be more than he knew.
Intrigued?
Then check out Ideas Bobert, a whimsical brew of physical comedy and conundrum. This multi-media, interdisciplinary show by award-winning creator and former Campbell Riverite Candy Roberts is “Ginger Rogers meets Mr. Bean,” and dances with the absurd.
Roberts grew up right here in Campbell River, dancing at Danette’s School of Dance, but has now relocated to Vancouver and dances her way through life as a community arts facilitator, teacher and performer. This past year she received a Mayor’s Arts Award in Vancouver as an “Emerging Community Engaged Artist” for her work in community development through creativity and the arts. She is also a founding member of the community that makes up The Dusty Flowerpot Cabaret, which was named one of “Vancouver’s Best Kept Secrets,” by the CBC.
“This is my first solo show and features my passions and skills in tap dancing, clowning, puppetry and some stop-motion animation projections,” Roberts says. The show will debut in Campbell River at Solstice Studio (151 Dogwood St.) tomorrow night (Saturday, July 30) before heading down Island to the Victoria Fringe Festival. It will also be featured at the Vancouver Puppet Festival and Edmonton’s Clown Festival later this year.
Tickets for the 7 p.m. Solstice Studio show are available at the door on a sliding scale from $10 to $20. For more information, visit curlypawscandice.com
