As the curtain closes on Fraser Valley Comedy’s (FVC) third year, they’ve decided to end the season on a funny note with one last Jest Ladies comedy show at the Wellington Local House on Saturday, June 16.
“Why not help us end our season and (ring in) the summer by watching these hilarious, talented ladies?” said Yo Trieu, founder of Fraser Valley Comedy.
Historically, comedy has been a male-dominated industry, however, in recent years, women across the nation are smashing through glass ceilings and stealing the spotlight, and FVC has every intention on facilitating that growth.

“We get a lot of inquires asking when the next Jest Ladies comedy show is on,” said Trieu. “(And) an all female lineup tends to draw a higher female crowd, which means a great ladies’ night out full of laughs.
“(Women enjoy) more of a female perspective (because it’s) more relatable.”
But that doesn’t mean the men won’t enjoy the show as well: headlined by Katie-Ellen Humphries and hosted by Cari Norton Moore, Jest Ladies promises to be a rip-roaring good time for all in attendance.
Bursting onto the Canadian comedy scene in recent years, Humphries has made a space for herself by performing in some of the country’s top comedic festivals, and has also been on CBC’s The Debaters.

Joining Humphries will be Melanie Rose, featured on APTN’s critically acclaimed She Kills Me, and CRAVE TV, who lends a hilarious slant when telling her difficult life story, which includes being a divorced mother of four, drug addiction, and mental health issues.
Syd Bosel , Sophia Johnson, and Ericka Young will also be making special guest appearances.
The show starts at 8:00 p.m., tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the door, which opens at 7:00 p.m. And as it’s festival-style seating, the earlier you are, the better your seat will be.
