The Fraser Valley Symphony presents a winter musical concert on Sunday, Feb. 5, a story in “Opera and Song” with rising star tenor Martin Sadd.
Passionate, riveting and dramatic opera tales, beautiful and intense melodies from ballet, as well as lyrical folk tales will capture your imagination, as Sadd performs with the orchestra.
Sadd obtained his Master’s Degree in Interpretation from the University of B.C. He has toured with the Vancouver Opera in the Schools program and was a member of the Calgary Opera Emerging Artist Program, Pacific Opera, Victoria’s Young Artist Program, and a district winner of the Metropolitan Opera Competition. His roles include Rodolfo from La Boheme, Werther in Werther, and Rinuccio in Gianni Schicchi, Duke in Rigoletto and Pollione in Marma with Vancouver Island Opera. His more recent roles include Borsa, Rigoletto with the Vancouver Concert Opera Society, and Nanki-Poo with the Calgary Opera.
Sadd will perform arias from several well-known operas, including the famous “Nessum Dorma” from Puccini’s “Turandot” as well as selections from Gounod and Massenet operas.
Rounding out the concert, the orchestra will present La Forza del Destino Overture by Verdi and other instrumental opera music.
Now in its 33nd year, the Fraser Valley Symphony is the premier community orchestra of the region. Lindsay Mellor is conductor.
Concert is at Matsqui Centennial Auditorium, 32315 South Fraser Way in Abbotsford, Sunday, Feb. 5 at 3: p.m. Doors open at 2:30 p.m.
