Summer will end with a rocking country concert throughout the day Saturday on Harrison’s beachfront.
Local country artist Todd Richard, along with the TR Band, will headline the showcase of musical talent.
The outdoor concert wasn’t in the summer’s plans initially, and the idea was thrown together over the last few weeks, organizers say.
“Todd had been scheduled to play on Monday, so he said why don’t we move it and make it a bigger event?” explains Robert Reyerse, executive director of Tourism Harrison. The idea was popular among local businesses, and Reyerse said it wouldn’t be possible without their support.
“It got big very quickly,” he says.
The show will work in conjunction with the Village of Harrison’s planned ribbon cutting of the brand new stage just built on the beach.
That event is at 1 p.m., and the concerts will begin shortly after, at about 1:30 p.m. First up is Roger Schmidt, then the Murray Band, the Brent Lee Band and finally Todd Richard.
The concerts are expected to end at about 7 p.m.
There is no admission fee, and the entire night will be emceed by Country 107.1’s Curtis Pope.
